A while ago I gave you some tips for
meeting your girlfriend’s family
. Today I will
give you some tips on meeting her friends.
1) Dress nice
Make sure you clean up yourself before
you meet your girlfriend’s friends. It’s better
to overdress a tiny bit and seem like a “nice
guy” than to dress like a slob.
2) Be polite and respectful
Always be polite and respectful to
her friends, even if they are “boring”. Tone
down that cockiness or sarcastic attitude and
behave yourself.
3) Remember all their names
Try to remember their names and greet
them using their names. Makes a huge difference!
4) Smile and act confident
Meeting her friends for the first time
is like going to a job interview. You want to
smile and act confident. If they approve you,
you will get the job. If they think you are a
loser, they are going to talk behind your back
and create a lot of resistance.
5) Be curious about them
Having a natural curiosity about
her friends will help you build rapport with
them a lot quicker. Furthermore, it will
allow you to get them to talk about themselves
instead of having them “interview” you.
6) Compliment them
Make sure you throw in a few compliments.
Don’t be afraid of flattering them a little.
7) Remember a few details
Remember a few details in their
conversations with you and bring up
these details later. This will REALLY help
you build rapport with them.
8) Say something good about your girlfriend.
Make sure you compliment your
girlfriend in front of her friends. This will
make them think you are “for real.”
9) Play the underdog
Don’t try to alpha her friends. Play
the underdog instead. If the guys try to alpha
you, then have a witty comeback to get them back,
but don’t try to “own” them. You don’t want to
create any negative feelings.
8) Keep your cool
No matter what happens, keep your
cool and do not get angry at anyone. If you
do, her friends will naturally band together
to get rid of the outsider – you.
