“How To End A Telephone Conversation Early”
Last time we talked about the importance of
ending dates and telephone conversations early. Today
I will give you a few excuses you can use to end a
telephone conversation.
1) “Oh! I almost forgot. I’ve got to run. I promised
to call a friend at 4:15 and it’s 4:30 already.”
2) “Oh! It’s almost midnight. I gotta run down to
the store and do some grocery shopping before it
closes. I’ll call you tomorrow.”
3) “Hey. I am really enjoying talking to you but I
have to go do some work. Can we hang out some time
in person?” (See how you just asked for a date
indirectly?)
4) “Okay. It’s getting late and I have work early
tommorow…”
5) “Oh! I have to run out the door now. It’s almost
six and I am meeting a friend for dinner…”
6) “I think my phone is running out of battery.
Let’s talk again tommorow.”
7) “Hey. If my phone suddenly dies it’s because it’s
running low on battery.” (This is a false time
constraint. Use it to set up for a potential end
to a conversation if you know you’re going to
want to end it early.)
8) “Hey. I am with some friends right now and I don’t
want to be rude. Can I call you back tomorrow?”
